  1. norcot Says:

As a Englishman, I hope the scots do soon go completely independant. We have to subsidise them too much.

  2. rukidding Says:

As a descendant of the Scots (my father's parents were from Glasgow), I don't think we should forget what happened 300 years ago because I think that would do a disservice to those who suffered and died for the country. At the same time, I do think that it would be way too much money and too much trouble for Scotland to become independent. I think you should be proud of not only being a Scot, as I am, but of being part of the UK. I guess that first answer demonstrates what Scottish friends of mine have been saying about the English since I've known them. I've tried not to agree, but people like that guy make it hard not to.

  3. Texican Says:

As a Texan who admires the Scots, I would hope they would become free someday. In fact, out of respect, I'm going to wear a kilt in protest of the U.K.'s domination of Scotland, and will wear this kilt every day until Scotland is free.

Firstly your spelling is terrible, secondly Scotland England have been independent countries longer than they have been united, thirdly there is nothing to be proud of being British.

at the rubbish things that the British Empire did to other countries around the world. Fourthly you are talking out of a hole in you know where when you start talking about unemployment.

you saying we are all doley's in Scotland? Our rate of unemployment is probably amongst the lowest in the UK.

on what you said I reckon this just strengthens rather than weakens the argument for the break up of the United Kingdom. It can't come quick enough for me.

  5. Craig Says:

The Scottish people did not want to become into the Union with England, and nor did some of the MPs (although some did due the Darien disaster). It was always about money from the thousands and thousands of English pounds to bribe the landowners, to the massive loan from England to get the rich going again, to the North Sea Oil found in Scotland in the 1970s, etc.

Union has managed to stay for mainly one reason money. Money, which befits the rich.

then in turn mess about with the facts, the facts to get the “common” people on board basically Manipulation as Lukes would see it.

thats politics for you. We can continue in the Union with England, but I do fail to see how that would be in the best interests of the Scottish people, and now thankfully the Scottish Government.

only insutution that it could and would ever benefit now, is Westminster and England.

by looking back in the 1970s for example, where a secret “Top Secret” document was hid away from the Press, which showed the extent of North Sea Oil in Scotland why was this hid, simply because the “British” Government did not want nationalism to rise any further.

is a huge factor, and in my opinion Scotland would get such a better deal with Independence.

the Reserved Powers, Westminster decides too much, and as a result, gives Scotland a raw deal.

many people say that it is the Scottish MPs that have the almost final say.

this is rubbish Scottish MPs are completely outnumbered in Westminster, and as a result have almost no say This argument on Yahoo! Answers, is used too often that Scottish MPs have too much power.

I would say is completely the opposite.

Army is an issue that must be resolved. Scotland is subject to (right now) Trident, which now we are attempting to block under many of the Devolved Powers that the SNP claim the right to. Be interesting to see how the Labour Government (which had to rely on the party of opposition to get the plans rolling in Westminster) reacts to the Scottish Government blockade (if they manage it) to Trident. So aye it is about money, the money that England would lose, the amount of power England would lose (UN/EU,etc) the army that would be lost, a country to house Trident, and so much more. So I would ask, what “money beifefit” we are getting from England, as far as i can see its none.
