All drugs given for multiple sclerosis are not in the form of injections. Baclofen is an oral drug given for severe spasticity resulting from multiple sclerosis. Tizanidine is a similar drug.
steroids like Dexamethasone are given for multiple sclerosis.

I tried to find the answer to your question, but Betaseron web site doesn't address this..I believe it has something to do with the proteins being destroyed by the stomach acids.I know that my Neuro mentioned something about a patch that may be approved in a few years. In the meantime I am taking Betaseron and have been for more than 8 years. The needles are very tiny and injected sub Q just under the skin.I take the injections 3 days a week ,each one taking a matter of seconds.I haven't had a major exacerbation or any new symptoms in 8 yrs..I think that the beta is doing a great job..
